Tummy Time Toys: A Mirror on Its Own or a Full Play Mat?

Compare a tummy time mirror and a play mat

Standalone mirror

The Itzy Bitzy Mirror is a separate toy with a reflective panel, textured feet, ribbons and crinkle and jingle sounds. Choose a character on its listing. Itzy Ritzy advises surface cleaning and air drying.

Play mat

The Rainbow Ritzy Tummy Time Play Mat is a set rather than a single toy. The listing includes a quilted mat, a prop pillow, a mirror and a removable toy. It suits a home starting from nothing, where you want the floor surface and the accessories to arrive together. If you already own a mat and a mirror, much of this set will overlap with what you have. Read the label for how each piece is meant to be used.

What to check before choosing

• Check what you already use for floor play. If you have a play mat, consider whether you want a separate mirror.
• Count the overlap before buying a set. The Rainbow Ritzy mat comes with its own mirror and removable toy, so adding a separate mirror is a choice, not a requirement.
• Read the label of the exact item you pick and follow it for use and cleaning. For the Itzy Bitzy Mirror, the manufacturer advises surface clean and air dry.

For awake, supervised play, follow the item’s instructions and HealthHub’s tummy time guidance. Read Itzy Ritzy’s mirror care instructions or compare more toy types in our Itzy Ritzy toy guide.
